The Best Meditation
Which is the best meditation? Simply put, the one you enjoy the most. When you enjoy it, you are naturally inclined to practice it regularly, which leads to many mental and physical health benefits.
Meditation is not a one-size-fits-all, and there are many types to chose from. I enjoy having a lot of variety in my life, including in my meditation practices. I constantly switch from one type to another.

Types of Meditation
Here’s a simple breakdown of some of the main types of meditation:
Mindfulness: Staying fully present with whatever is happening, without judgment. Commin in Buddhist traditions.
Loving-Kindness: Focusing on your heart cultivating unconditional love and compassion for yourself and others.
Transcendental: Silently repeating a specific mantra to quiet the mind and transcend thought.
Guided: Following a narrator or recording that leads you through imagery or prompts for relaxation, healing, or insight.
Chakra: Focusing on the body’s energy centers to balance and align the energetic body.
Mantra: Repeating a word, phrase, or sound (like “Om’) to settle the mind and connect spiritually.
Visualization: Using mental imagery, like picturing a peaceful place or imagining goals as already acheived.
Sound: Focusing on sounds – like singing bowls, bells, or chants – to enter a meditative state.
Breathwork: Using conscious breathing techniques to shift energy, emotions, or awareness.
Walking: A form of meditation where you use the act of walking as your focus instead of sitting still. You move slowly and mindfully, paying close attention to each step, your breathing, your body’s movements, and even the feeling of your feet touching the ground. It’s often done in a quiet, peaceful place, but it can also be practiced anywhere.
As you can see, there are many choices to choose from for meditation. Try them all and see which one works best for you. And how do you know if your meditation worked? Ask yourself afterwards, “Do I feel better than when I started?” If so, you had success!
